BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 1, 2025) - Women's golf finished tied for sixth-place at the loaded Lynn Invitational, hosted by the Fighting Knights at Boca Woods Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Tars had a slow start to the event on Monday morning, finishing round one with a 302 (+14). Freshman
Alisha Rametra led the squad in the opening round, firing a 74 (+2) that included two birdies and 14 pars.
Sarah Knitter slotted in behind her with a 75 (+3),
Megan Docherty shot a 76 (+4), and
Carla Alvarez carded a 77 (+5) to round out the scoring. Rollins sat in ninth, eleven shots back of the leader, Grand Valley State, following the morning session.
In the afternoon, Rollins shaved a shot off their total for a 301. Docherty was cooking, recording two birdies and 15 pars in her round to come in at a one-under 71. Alvarez and Knitter each finished at 76, and Rametra had a 78.
Following a good night's sleep, and much more favorable weather on Tuesday, the Tars were able to showcase their championship-caliber lineup with a team score of 292. Rametra bounced back nicely with an even par 72, her first round of par or better in her collegiate career. The Frisco, Texas native had one birdie, one bogey, and 16 pars in the final lap. Alvarez and Knitter matched each other's scores for the second time, this time improving to a 73 for the round. Each golfer had two birdies and three bogeys in the round. Docherty then finished the card for the Tars with a 74. Her total of 221 for the event was good for a tie at 16th place on the individual board.
Docherty finished the tournament with 41 pars, the third-most in the field. Coming in fourth was Rametra, with 40.
Lynn ran away with the trophy, posting a two-under 862 on their home course. Grand Valley State was second, Dallas Baptist third, Lee fourth, and Flagler fifth. A total of eight SSC schools participated in the event.
This was the final tournament for the Tars before the SSC Championship. The quest for a ninth conference title will take place April 13-15 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, hosted by the University of Tampa.
