WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 7, 2025) - Baseball suffered their third home loss of the season on Friday, dropping a high-scoring affair to the Gannon Golden Knights, 11-7. The Tars now stand at 13-5 on the year while the Knights improve to 4-4.
The first run of the game came on the first pitch to a Rollins hitter as
Michael Furry went oppo taco for his fourth home run of the season. Building off the momentum, starter
Tyler Toro delivered a perfect third inning, striking out the side.
Gannon was able to tie the score in the third with an error, sac bunt, single, and sac fly. Things would remain tied until the fifth when
Angelo Ramirez brought in
Jimmy Thies with a sac fly to right.
Toro was pulled after five innings of work, and the wheels fell off for the Rollins pitching staff after that. Gannon scored two runs in the sixth on a home run, five runs on just two hits in the seventh, and two more runs in the eighth with a pair of RBI knocks.
Trailing 11-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Rollins put together a small rally, scoring four runs on three hits, including an RBI single from
Ethan Beal, the first of his career.
Furry ended with three hits, including a double and a home run plus two RBI to lead the offense. Toro was fantastic in the no decision, tossing five innings while scattering two hits, one unearned run and striking out six.
The Tars have the weekend off before heading to St. Augustine on Tiueday to face the Flagler Saints. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
