WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2025) - Softball split their doubleheader against the Bridgeport Purple Knights on Wednesday, winning game one 8-3 before falling in the nightcap, 6-2. The Tars now stand at 12-5 on the season, while the Knights improve to 6-4.
Game One

The Knights took advantage of a Tar error in the first inning to jump out to a 1-0 lead, but the Tars quickly made up for their mistake. It started in the second inning when
Jenna Borkey drove in a run on a shot to center.
Makayla Layton was up soon after, and reached on a throwing error that allowed
Marisa Edevane to score. The final two runs of the inning came on a double steal and an infield RBI single from Bri Perantoni that made the score 4-1.
The Knights had a quick response, using two doubles in the third inning to score twice and pull within one. Fortunately, it was all Tars from that point forward.
Jaden Walker ripped a single through the left side in the fourth to bring in Perantoni. Moments later,
Brooke Theisen scored on the second double steal of the night. Rollins also added a run in the fifth on a Borkey RBI base hit and a
Cambrie Todd RBI knock in the sixth to make the final of 8-3.
Reese Twiggs threw the first three inning for Rollins, but it was
Camila Leon-Blanco who picked up the win. The freshman had a stellar relief appearance. tossing four shutout innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Pernatoni was 4-4 at the plate in game one.

The first two innings were scoreless in game two, but Bridgeport found the board in the third. Mya Jones drove in two with a two-out double, and she was immediately brought in a double from Angela Oros to make it 3-0.
Rollins finally made their way onto the scoreboard in the fifth when Todd came through with her second pinch-hit RBI of the night, sending a ball to left that scored
Grace Germer.
Jones struck again in the seventh with her third double of the night, driving in two more runs. The Knights added a third run in the inning on an error. Rollins plated one more run in their last at bat on a Theisen groundout, but would pose no further damage.
Grace Hautzinger took the loss by allowing three runs in her start.
Emily MacMullen was sharp in relief, tossing four innings with six strikeouts and one hit allowed.
Rollins is back in action on Friday, March 7 when they host Adelphi for a doubleheader at MLK Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
