FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 14, 2025) The Rollins College softball team hit the road for the first time in three weeks, traveling to Fort Lauderdale for a three game set with Nova Southeastern beginning Friday night. Missed opportunities plagued the Tars, leaving eight runners on base and conceding five unearned runs, contributing to a 6-3 loss.
Â
Rollins jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top off the third inning off the bat of Bri Perantoni. The freshman continued to swing a hot bat, singling home
Grace Germer on a base hit to the shortstop.
Â
The Tars remained ahead until the bottom of the fourth, when the Sharks struck for three runs, all of them unearned. A two-out base hit did the majority of the damage after
Reese Twiggs had put herself in a position to get out of the jam. Twiggs was solid in the circle, but the Sharks capitalized on opportunities with clutch hitting with two outs. After a Brooke Thiesen RBI pulled the Tars back within one run in the top of the fifth, the Sharks increased their advantage with another two-out single in the bottom half, making the score 4-2.
Â
Rollins would not go away, though. After getting the first two batters, Nova starter Gracelyn Wallace plunked the speedy
Jenna Borkey, putting her on first. After getting in scoring position with her tenth steal on the season,
Grace Germer singled home Borkey to make the score 4-3.
Â
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Tars would get. A pair of bases loaded walks scored two more runs for the Sharks to increase their lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth and Rollins stranded the bases loaded in their last at-bat.
Â
The Tars will look to bounce back tomorrow as they'll play two, beginning at 12pm in Fort Lauderdale. Stay up to date with coverage all season long at Rollinssports.com.
