BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 9, 2025) – The Rollins women's tennis team nearly pulled off a huge upset on Sunday, pushing third-ranked Lynn to the brink in a 4-3 defeat to the Fighting Knights. The Tars are now 1-2 on the year, 0-2 in SSC play, while Lynn goes to 2-0 overall, 1-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- Lynn grabbed the doubles point with wins on courts three and one, and the Fighting Knights held on for a win on court two to sweep the doubles matches.
Singles
- After Lynn extended its lead to 3-0 with wins on court six and four, Nina Mitrofanova got the Tars on the board with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court five.
- Not long after, Amina Taibi cut the deficit to a single point with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory on court three.
- Nancy Liu tied the match at 3-3 with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win on court one, but the Fighting Knights were able to pick up a three-set victory on court two to secure the 4-3 win.
