WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 28, 2025) - Softball dropped the first of three games against Embry-Riddle on Friday night, losing 7-4. The Tars now stand at 7-4 (5-2 SSC) while the Eagles improve to 9-5 (3-4 SSC). 
The Tars worked around three walks in the first inning with the help of a caught stealing and a back pick from catcher 
Marisa Edevane. In the bottom of the frame, Bri Perantoni led off with a triple, and came around to score on a double steal. 
Disaster struck the Tars in the second. With two on and two outs, starter 
Emily MacMullen fielded a comebacker cleanly, but her throw to first was well wide of the bag, allowing both runners to score. A single added a third run, giving Embry-Riddle a 3-1 lead. 
Rollins got one run back in the third on a 
Brooke Theisen bunt single that brought in 
Makayla Layton. 
After a quiet fourth, the Eagles found the scoreboard again. Two walks and a single loaded the bases with two outs, and a shot up the middle plated two, extending the lead to 5-2. 
The Tars added one in the fifth on a 
Madi Carr RBI single that scored Theisen, and wrapped up their scoring in the sixth when an error in right field allowed Edevane to score, cutting the lead to 5-4. 
Embry-Riddle added two insurance runs in the seventh thanks to a pair of errors from the Tar defense, making the final of 7-4. 
MacMullen too the loss after 3.1 innings of work. 
Camila Leon-Blanco finished the final 3.2 innings for the Tars. Theisen led the offense with two hits, a run, and one RBI. 
The two teams will meet up again on Saturday for a doubleheader to close out the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
