Rollins defeated Saint Leo 7-4 and 2-1 on Saturday afternoon

SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 22, 2025) - Softball avenged their Friday night loss by claiming both ends of Saturday's doubleheader against Saint Leo. The Tars now stand at 7-3 overall with a 5-1 record in SSC play. The Lions fall to 8-8 on the year.

Game One
Rollins 7, Saint Leo 3

The Lions were the first to strike with a sac fly in the first, and two runs in the third thanks to four hits and an error from the Tars to go up 3-0.

Rollins came storming back in the fourth as they finally broke through against Lions starter Haleigh Thomas. Madi Carr, Jaden Walker, Kaeli Zahradnik, and Marisa Edevane came through with four consecutive singles to score two runs. Grace Germer was up next, and sent a rocket to left that was caught. On the play, Zahradnik was able to score, but Edevane was cut down trying to advance to third, ending the rally with a tie game.

The sixth inning saw Rollins break the game open. Carr and Walker each singled again, and were both replaced by pinch-runners. After a pitching change, Zahradnik laced a double to left to bring in Lucy McLogan. Edevane then walked to load the bases, and Gerer brought in the next run after being hit by a pitch. Brice Michelli was then called upon to pinch-hit, and she delivered an RBI single. The final run came on a fielder's choice from Bri Perantoni to make the score 7-3.

Saint Leo managed to get one back in the bottom of the sixth on a sac fly to make the final of 7-4. Camila Leon-Blanco shut the door in the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning. It was the first win of her collegiate career. Carr and Zahradnik each had three hits to lead the offense.
