Tars Drop Road SSC Matchup to Mocs

LAKELAND, Fla. (December 6, 2025) – Rollins fell to Florida Southern on the road on Saturday, the Mocs coming away with the 80-48 victory over the Tars.
Rollins opened the day with a strong defensive stretch, holding the Mocs to a single early free throw before Victoria Escribano knocked down a layup to get the Tars on the board. Claire Erickson and Elaina Kline-Ruminski each added buckets to keep things close, but Florida Southern's work on the offensive glass created multiple second-chance opportunities, paired with a trio of threes that built a 19–7 lead after one.
The Tars found a few bright spots in the second quarter as Zai Mitchell sank a pair of free throws and Grace Craig knocked down two jumpers, but Florida Southern stayed hot, connecting on four more threes in the frame to stretch the margin. McKenna Murphy and Escribano added free throws down the stretch, but the Mocs carried a 48–16 advantage into halftime.
Rollins came out of the break with renewed energy, piecing together their best offensive quarter of the afternoon. Erickson buried a three on the opening possession and added a layup shortly after, sparking a 19-point third frame for the Tars. Thompson's activity on both ends helped fuel the push, finding Craig in transition for a layup and delivering assists on multiple scores. Erickson fed Escribano for points in the paint before adding another finish of her own, while Mitchell converted inside and Craig dropped in two late buckets to chip away at the deficit. Despite the surge, Florida Southern countered each run with timely threes, maintaining control heading into the fourth despite Escribano beating the buzzer with a jumper to end the quarter.
The Tars opened the final frame with Tara Murray and Erickson trading baskets with the Mocs. Kline-Ruminski added a score, Newton knocked down a free throw, and Thompson connected from deep before Florida Southern responded with another run. Jordyn Egger added a late basket to close out the scoring, but the Mocs held firm to take the 80–48 final.
Craig led Rollins with 10 points and five blocks, while Erickson and Escribano each added eight-plus, with Escribano also pulling down seven rebounds. The Tars shot 32.8% from the field and generated 26 points in the paint.
Rollins falls to 4–3 on the season and 0–3 in SSC play, while Florida Southern improves to 6–1 (2–0 SSC). The Tars return home on Saturday, Dec. 13, for a 2 p.m. matchup against Tampa inside Warden Arena.
