DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 18, 2025) – Rollins women's basketball dropped its opening game of the ERAU Holiday Classic on Thursday afternoon, falling 64–42 to Davenport.
Grace Craig opened the scoring for the Tars with a layup to get Rollins on the board. Victoria Escribano followed with a putback and another finish to keep the Tars within a possession early, but Davenport answered with a pair of buckets to regain control. Escribano continued to provide energy inside, and Jordyn Egger came off the bench to add a jumper of her own, but the Panthers closed the quarter ahead 14–10.
Davenport opened the second on an eight-point run, forcing Rollins to play from behind. Craig broke the momentum with a layup, and Faith Newton helped close the gap with back-to-back threes and a free throw to bring the deficit back under 10. A late Davenport bucket, however, sent the teams into the locker room with the Panthers holding a 30–19 lead.
Craig again opened the scoring out of the break to spark the Tars, but Davenport responded with four straight baskets to stretch the margin. Egger knocked down a three to start a brief stretch of trading buckets, with Claire Erickson finishing inside and Newton connecting from deep once more. Makayla Daube capped the quarter with a layup, but Rollins still trailed by 18 heading into the final frame.
Escribano and Egger opened the fourth by trimming the deficit to 15, with Egger adding another free throw moments later. Davenport kept the pressure on, though, and despite free throws from Erickson and Escribano, the Panthers maintained control. McKenna Murphy and Daube added late points for the Tars, but Davenport closed out the contest with the 64–42 victory.
Escribano led Rollins with a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double. Newton added nine points, while Egger chipped in eight—her highest scoring output of the season. Shooting proved to be the biggest hurdle for the Tars, as Rollins finished at 26.9% from the field and 15.8% from beyond the arc, though the team converted 78.6% at the free-throw line and scored 18 points in the paint.
Rollins moves to 5-5 on the season and returns to action Friday, Dec. 19, for a 2:30 p.m. matchup against Emmanuel University to close out play at the ERAU Holiday Classic.
