Tars Punch Ticket to SSC Tournament with Senior Night Win

WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 1, 2025) – Rollins women's soccer closed its regular season on a high note Saturday night, earning a crucial 1-0 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic on Senior Night at Barker Family Stadium. With the win, the Tars improve to 7-5-3 (3-4-3 SSC), securing their place in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, while the Sailfish finish 3-8-5 (2-5-3 SSC).

It was an emotional evening as the Tars honored their six seniors — Alice Tesser, Jessie Wade, Lexie Cooper, Harmoni Thomas, Darian Ehrmantraut, and Gabby Boyd — for their leadership and commitment to the program. The group capped their collegiate careers on their home field in storybook fashion, helping deliver the decisive win that extended Rollins' season.

The match opened with a high-paced tempo, both teams trading early looks on goal. The Tars eventually pushed the pressure, racking up eight shots and three corners in the first half, but were held off the board by Palm Beach Atlantic's defense. On the other end, Lauren Mehos came up big with a pair of key stops to keep things level heading into halftime.

Rollins finally broke through in the 61st minute when Emma Griner delivered a pinpoint corner kick that found Gabby Mellett, who rose and powered a header into the back of the net for her first goal of the season — and the game-winner. The Tars leaned on their defense the rest of the way, highlighted by an incredible sequence featuring a one-on-one save from Mehos followed by a defensive stop from Amanda Caines on the rebound to shut down a Sailfish breakaway.

Mehos finished with seven saves to record her fifth shutout of the season. The Tars and Sailfish finished even in total shots at 14 apiece, though Rollins held a commanding 13–2 edge in corner kicks. The Tars' quality looks made the difference, giving Mellett the lone goal and the Rollins seniors one final win on their home field.

With the victory, Rollins clinches the final SSC Tournament spot and will now turn its attention to postseason play. Matchups and times for the quarterfinals will be announced by the Sunshine State Conference in the coming days.
