Short-Handed Tars Earn Draw Against Tritons

Rollins and Eckerd tied 3-3 on Wednesday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 15, 2025) - Men's soccer earned a 3-3 draw against the Eckerd Tritons on Wednesday, despite playing more than 70 minutes a man down. The Tars now stand at 5-3-3 on the year with a 2-2-2 record in the SSC. Eckerd moves to 2-5-5, 0-3-3 SSC.

Eckerd opened the scoring in the 18th minute. After forcing a turnover on their side, the Tritons sent a ball well down the field. Despite three Rollins defenders calling for an offsides, play continued, leading to a clean look for Marcio Costa who found the net.

Just a minute later, the Tars' Jaden Splunge was whistled for a red card, putting Rollins a man down for the final 71 minutes of the game.

The call seemed to invigor the home team, and they entered attack mode. In the 30th minute, a corner kick entered the box. After bouncing around, Tim Arnhold found himself with the ball. As the defense crashed on him, he poked it to the far side of the box, where Hayden Judge was waiting, easily tying the game with his attempt.

As the half was coming to a close, substitute Zico Groenveld took one last run towards the Eckerd goal. A long pass found him nicely, and he fired a shot on goal, but it was saved. Fortunately, the rebound came right back to him, and he smashed the ball past Duran van Woerkom for the go-ahead goal.

Following the break, Rollins added one more shorthanded goal. Following a defensive stop, Finlay Prain chased down a long ball, showcasing fancy footwork and a nasty spin move to find space. He then touched the ball to Jordan Proulx, who lined up a cross that found Yousef Shakweer in the box. After a could fakes, the junior found enough space to unleash a screamer into the left side of the net that put Rollins up 3-1.

Unfortunately, the extra player advantage played to the Tritons' favor as they were able to score twice more in the game. The second goal of the game came off a perfect corner kick to Robert Thorarinsson. The final strike was a beauty from Daniel Freire, who bent a 20-yarder into the top corner.

Rollins outshot Eckerd 11-8, including 7-4 on goal

The Tars will now turn their attention to the reigning National Champions, Lynn University, who will visit Winter Park on Saturday, October 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
