MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (September 28, 2024) - Men's soccer picked up a big conference win on the road, taking down the Barry Buccaneers by a score fo 2-1 on Saturday. With the win, the Tars move to 3-3-1 (1-1 SSC) on the season, while the Bucs fall to 2-4-1 (1-1 SSC).
The first twenty-five minutes of action did not see a ton of chances for either side. In fact, only three shots were taken, all of which came from the feet of Rollins players. Their fourth shot was a winner though as
Pedro Lameiras and
Rory Doyle ran a give-and-go in the Barry box, leading to a goal for Lameiras.Â
About thirteen minutes later, the Tars would strike again.
Tommy Link was able to corral a loose ball at midfield, and headed it towards
Mikkel Fodstad, who was about 45 yards from the goal. He turned on the jets, flying past the Barry defense before unleashing an absolute rocket with his left foot that beat the diving Barry keeper.
Jabari Gray recorded a pair of saves late in the half to maintain the 2-0 count.Â
The only action in the second half was Barry converting a penalty kick opportunity in the 62nd minute after a Rollins foul. The defense would hold strong after that, giving Rollins a big road win.Â
The Tars only had two shots on goal in the game, both of which were goals. Gray finished with four saves as he earned the win.
Next up for Rollins is a road match on Wednesday, October 2. The Tars will head to Tampa for a battle with the #20 ranked Spartans. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.Â
