Sailfish Take Two from Tars

Palm Beach Atlantic defeated Rollins twice on Saturday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 27, 2024) - Baseball suffered their fourth and fifth consecutive losses on Saturday, falling twice to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. The Tars now stand at 22-19, 13-11 SSC.

Game One
Palm Beach Atlantic 4, Rollins 2

Rollins threatened in the first with two runners on base, but could not finish the job. They would repeat the process in the third, but a pair of flyouts kept them off the board.

The Sailfish broke through in the fourth, when a costly two-out error from the Tars provided an extra life for PBA. They took advantage, scoring one on a double to left.

Rollins responded in their next at bat when Chris Sparber launched a two-run dinger, scoring himself and Jack Herring to give Rollins the lead. It was short-lived, however, as the Sailfish drove in the tying run with a base hit in the fifth.

Nick Berger fought through six innings and left with the game tied. Unfortunately, Palm Beach Atlantic struck for a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to make the final of 4-2.

Sparber had a double and a home run to lead the offense. Berger turned in another quality start, his seventh of the year, in the tough luck loss.

Game Two
Palm Beach Atlantic 6, Rollins 0

The offense struggled against Sailfish pitchers in the second game, collecting just two hits in thirty at bats.

Palm Beach Atlantic scored on an error in the second, hit a grand slam in the seventh, and wrapped things up with a sac fly in the eighth to make the final of 6-0.

Ryan Furey was solid in the loss, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, one run, and striking out three.

Rollins will close out their home schedule next weekend when they host rival Florida Southern at Alfond Stadium. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Friday, May 3.
