WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 2, 2024) – The women's rowing team kicked off their 2024 spring campaign on the waters of Lake Maitland on Saturday. DII rival Embry Riddle was in attendance and lived up to the speed they had in 2023 which earned them an NCAA bid. While Rollins was unable to pull out any wins in the six events today, the TARS were able to close the gap from last year.
The Varsity 8 (

Abby Klesa,
Kinsley Sparks,
Grace Oelrich,
Francesca Morgan-Tomascik,
Khloe Smith,
Nina Nikolic,
Justine Hickey,
Olivia Prelog) finished just five seconds behind Embry Riddle. Rollins made up even more time in the DII4+ (
Dinah Rofman,
Maria Gutierrez,
Lillian Groves,
Sophie Bolan,
Isabella Espino) placing just five seconds behind the Embry Riddle boat. These are important for the TARS in their run to earn a bid to the 2024 NCAAs.
"Every race and every event is important," said Head Coach
Shawn Pistor. "We use these early regattas to get extra training and experience by racing the women two and three times at the regatta". The other boats that were rowed were the Varsity 4 which was the women's eight split into two boats, the Varsity 4 B and the Novice 4.

Rollins will be back on Lake Maitland next weekend hosting the UCF Club Team and Barry University at the Rollins Invitational. Racing will begin at 7:50am and will be the final home regatta for the team before they hit the road.
