The day provided some choppy water for all the crews and the Tars were able to navigate the 2000m course with success. Victory was earned in the 2nd Varsity 8, the Division II 4, the Novice 4 and the Varsity 4 "B" events. Rollins took an early lead in each of the races and never let the competing crews a chance to get back in the mix. Many of the Rollins women rowed two and three races at the event continuing to gain fitness and experience in actual races.
One of the many focuses continues to be on the quest to earn an NCAA Championship bid. To accomplish this a team must field both a Varsity 8 and DII 4 with no rowers doubling and have success in both boats. The DII 4 (
Dinah Rofman,
Maria Gutierrez,
Lillian Groves,
Sophie Bolan,
Justine Hickey) did their job with their big win over Barry. The varsity 8 fell just short, crossing the line 9 seconds behind Barry's eight.
"We are still in the hunt," commented Coach Thompson. "We continue to improve each day both physically and mentally and the season is still young."
