LAKELAND, Florida (February 28, 2024) – The Rollins women's basketball team came up short on the road Wednesday, dropping a 77-59 decision at Florida Southern. The Tars are now 12-13 on the year and 9-10 in conference play, while the Mocs improve to 15-12, 8-12 in SSC games.
Claire Erickson led the Tars with 14 points and added six rebounds, while
Maddie Dillinger chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
Aaliyah Irizarry-Perez pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and
Ajalon Gillard dished out a team-high four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- The first quarter saw three ties and eight lead changes, with the Tars eventually pulling ahead 18-15 in the final minute of the period.
Second Quarter
- Florida Southern connected on three triples in the first 92 seconds of the second quarter to quickly go up by a score of 24-18, and less than four minutes later another made three lifted the lead to double digits at 32-22.
- The Mocs went up by as many as 17 in the period before ending the half with a 41-27 advantage.
Third Quarter
- The Tars kept pace in the third quarter but couldn't gain any ground as FSC narrowly outscored them 15-14 to head to the fourth quarter up 56-41.
Fourth Quarter
- Rollins got to within 12 (57-45) on a jumper from Erickson with 8:25 to go, but that was as close at it would get, with Florida Southern holding on for the 77-59 victory.

The Tars will be back at home on Saturday, March 2, as they host Barry for Senior Day at Warden Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
