Ninth-Ranked Tars Defeat No. 18 Embry-Riddle, 5-2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 21, 2024) – The ninth-ranked Rollins men's tennis team faced its first top-25 opponent of the season on Wednesday, and the Tars passed the test with a 5-2 win at No. 18 Embry-Riddle. The victory pushes Rollins to 3-0, 1-0 in SSC play, while the Eagles fall to 2-1 overall, 1-1 in conference matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles

• Richard Stoiberer and Luke Quaynor got things off on the right foot with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
• Charlie Putrino and Guillermo Castaneda clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court two.
• Efe Comu and Nico de Giacamo made it a clean sweep for the Tars as they took the No. 3 singles match, 6-4.

Singles

• Embry-Riddle evened the match with a win on court six, but Castaneda quickly put Rollins back in front with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles.
• The Tars went up 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court three by de Giacamo.
• Comu got the clinching point for Rollins with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles.
• The Eagles scored their second point with a win on court two before Stoiberer closed out the match with a hard-fought three-set win on court four, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4).
