Rollins Flies Past Eagles

The Tars are back home again on Saturday to host No. 20 Nova Southeastern

WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 21, 2024) – The Rollins women's basketball team put on a dominant performance on Thursday night, defeating visiting Fort Lauderdale, 82-44. The Tars are now 3-2 on the year, while the Eagles go to 1-5.
 
Ajalon Gillard led the Tars with 12 points and six rebounds, while Emily McIntosh chipped in with 11 points and three blocks. Paris Triplett and Kaitlyn Sanders each recorded nine points, while Aailyah Irizarry-Perez dished out a game-high five assists to go along with five points and five boards.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Gillard drilled a three to open the scoring just 17 seconds into the game.
  • Just over two minutes into the contest, the Tars had built a double-digit lead (11-0), which grew to 24-0 by the midway point of the quarter.
  • By the time the opening 10 minutes had concluded, Rollins held a commanding 35-4 advantage.
Second Quarter
  • The visitors shot the ball better in the second quarter, outscoring the Tars 14-9, but the Blue and Gold were comfortably in front at the half, 44-18.
Third Quarter
  • Rollins found the scoring touch once again in the third quarter, converting eight of 18 field goals and four of six free throws, increasing its lead to 64-31.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Tars remained stout defensively in the final period, holding the Eagles to 25% from the field, while also shooting 57% themselves, increasing the margin to 82-44 by the final whistle.

The Tars will be right back in action on Saturday, November 23, as they host No. 20 Nova Southeastern at 2 p.m.
