Rollins Routs Riddle

Rollins defeated Embry-Riddle 6-0 on Wednesday evening

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 27, 2023) - The Rollins offense was flawless, the defense was impeccable, and the result was a massive 6-0 conference win over Embry-Riddle on Wednesday night. The Tars now stand at 4-0-3 on the year, with a 2-0-1 record in SSC play. The Eagles fall to 1-3-1 (0-3-0 SSC).

It did not take long for Rollins to get on the board. In the fourth minute, Jorge Lameiras crossed a ball the length of the baseline to Jari Polm, who then fed Nazar Tsaruk. His soft touch floated the ball over the Eagles' keeper to give the Tars an early advantage.

The next 30 minutes were complete domination in terms of possession. Rollins stayed extremely patient, and gave the Eagles just a single attempt at the net (from about 40 yards out). In the 38th minute, Yousef Shakweer took control of a loose ball off a corner kick, and beamed a laser left top to make it 2-0, the halftime score.

The second half featured precision passing and creative goal-scoring from the Tars. Jari Polm cashed his third of the year on a gorgeous touch from Pedro Lameiras to make it three nil. Nine minutes later, it was Jorge Lameiras streaking down the far side, collecting a pass from Rory Doyle, and scoring his SSC-leading seventh goal of the year.

Seven minutes later, Doyle found himself in front of the net, with the playmaker Polm ready to feed him. The Irishman found the bottom corner for his first brace of the season. The scoring would wrap up about 90 seconds later when Jorge found Naz in front for an easy second goal.

Rollins possessed the ball for 70% of the game, and their defense allowed only they one shot from deep for the entire game. It was a master class on both sides of the pitch.

The Tars will have the weekend off before a huge SSC matchup with #9 Lynn at home in Winter Park. Rollins currently leads the SSC in goals per game, while the Fighting Knights have only allowed two goals all season. Should be a fun one on Wednesday, October 4.
