MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 18, 2023) - The Sunshine State Conference has named junior
Jorge Lameiras the Offensive Player of the Week for games played September 11-17. This is the first career award for the Lake Mary High graduate.
Lameiras was huge in the Tars' 3-3 draw against #3 Florida Tech on Wednesday. In the 21st minute, he sent a beautiful cross into
Nazar Tsaruk, whose self volley led to the first goal of the game. Seven minutes later, Lameiras was set up by
Jari Polm about 18 feet from the goal. He sent a rocket to the right side of the net, giving Rollins a 2-0 lead in the first half. Lameiras would end up with four shots, one on goal, one goal, and one assist in 81 minutes of action.
In Saturday's game against Tampa, Lammy found a seam on the right side of the pitch and took off, blowing by defenders. He whistled a shot past the outstretched arms of the Tampa keeper to give Rollins a 2-1 lead with only seven minutes to play. The game would end in a 2-2 draw. The goal was his sixth of the season.
Jorge currently leads the SSC in shots (22), shots per game (4.4), goals (6), and points (13). He is tied for second in the country in both goals scored and points.
