WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 10, 2023) - Playing for the third day in a row, Rollins was able to find the net against Georgia Southwestern, leading to a 0-0 draw after ninety minutes. the result moves the Tars to 1-1-2 on the year, while the Hurricanes improve to 1-2-1.
Rollins did not score, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. Within the first three minutes of the game, the Tars had put three shots on goal. Time of possession skewed heavily in Rollins' favor, as they simply did not stop attacking the Hurricane goal. However, Alana Beddow was up to the task, stopping everything that came her way. In the first half, Rollins ended up with nine shots total, with six on target, all of which were saved by Beddow.
The start of the second half was similar to the first as Bri Drayton and
Lexie Cooper put the pressure on the Georgia Southwestern defense with three more shots in the first eight minutes. Some were forced, while others were solid looks, but the result remained the same. Meanwhile, the Rollins defense, led by
Hunter Myers and
Sophia Olore, was absolutely stifling, allowing only a single shot that was off-target.
The final ten or so minutes of the game were exciting as Rollins tried the hardest to find the net. A number of miraculous saves kept the Tars off the board, including the biggest moment of the game with only seconds to play. Playing off a rebound,
Kayla Park found herself in front of the net and launched a shot that was impressively stopped by Beddow, leading to the final of 0-0.
Rollins outshot Georgia Southwestern 18-1, with 12 on target. They also had nine corners to the Canes' one.
