BRADENTON, Fla. (April 20, 2023) – The eighth-seeded Rollins women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Thursday with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of top-ranked and top-seeded Barry in the quarterfinal round of the Sunshine State Conference Championship at IMG Academy in Bradenton. The Tars finish the season with a 6-11 mark, while the Bucs go to 20-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The second-ranked tandem of Daniela Farfan and Deniz Khazan took down Milla Falster and Polina Ligay on court one, 6-0, to get the match started.
- The Bucs clinched the doubles point when Dinara Alloiarova and Nathalia Gasparin defeated Katie Groves and Eve Wasil 6-1 on court two.
- On court three, Natalia Collado Cordon and Erin Yaroshuk were up on Selina Pichler and Xiyao Wang, 4-2, but the match was abandoned once the doubles point was clinched.
Singles
- Top-ranked Khazan put the Bucs up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Groves on court one.
- Barry took a 3-0 lead when No. 40 Wang bested Falster on court four, 6-2, 6-2.
- Pichler clinched the match for BU with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Collado Cordon on court five.
- Polina Vlasova, Ligay, and Yaroshul were all down a set but all three were winning the second set in their respective matches when all three were abandoned due to the match being clinched.
