FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (April 15, 2023) - Women's tennis could not keep up with the #2 ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks on Saturday, falling by a score of 6-1. Rollins now stands at 6-8 on the year with a 2-5 record in SSC play.
Nova started by sweeping doubles on all three courts. The Tars entered the weekend down two of their top players, so all three tandems were groups that had hardly played with each other throughout the season.
The Sharks then proceeded to handle most of the doubles courts. They took home wins on numbers one through five in two sets, but
Erin Yaroshuk helped stave off the shutout with a valiant effort on court six. In the first set against Eva Goncharov, she needed a tie-break, but won 7-5. The set two was also a 7-5 final, this time going to Nova Southeastern. That led to the only three-set match of the day, with Yaroshuk claiming victory in a hard-fought 10-4 tiebreak.
The Tare won't have much time to rest as they have to turn around and play the #4 ranked Lynn Fighting Knights in Boca Raton on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 am.
