ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 5, 2023) – The Rollins men's tennis team opened the 2023 season with a 5-2 loss at fourth-ranked Flagler on Sunday. The match was also the season opener for the Saints.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
Singles
- Quaynor gave Rollins a 2-0 lead when he easily dispatched of Pavlos Parson, 6-0, 6-2 on court three.
- The Saints then captured the final five singles matches, though there were some close battles.
- Putrino pushed Philipp Lemken in both sets on court six, falling 7-5, 6-4.
- Castaneda made Jacopo Denitto go to a first-set tiebreak on court two before Denitto escaped with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 win, to give Flagler its fourth point and clinch the overall match.
- Stoiberer battled Bulnes on court five in the final match to conclude, pushing it to a third set after splitting tiebreaks before ultimately succumbing, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-3.
