PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 12, 2023) - After failing to play on Friday and Saturday due to weather, the Rollins Tars and West Florida Argonauts were finally able to step on the diamond on Sunday. UWF ended up winning both games, 6-3 and 5-4. Rollins now stands at 2-2 on the season, while West Florida improves to 4-1.

The first three innings were a pitcher's duel as
Edward Berry and Dalton Neuschwander were both dealing. Rollins struck first, scoring a run in the top of the fourth. With one out,
Cameron Meehan singled and moved to second on a flyout. He would then come around to score thanks to a Argonaut fielding error by the third baseman. West Florida was quick to respond in the bottom half of the inning, plating three runs with two outs to go up 3-1.
Kyle Bullock helped the Tars get one back in the fifth with a two-out single. He then moved to second on a wild pitch, and then was brought in on an
Axel Post double. Again, West Florida answered immediately with two runs in the bottom of the inning. They also added a run in the eighth.
Adams Torres scored the final run for Rollins in the ninth. He doubled to leadoff the inning, and was driven in by
Jeslyn Whitehead to make the final of 6-3.
Whitehead had two hits to lead the Tars offense. Berry recorded three strikeouts in three innings, but took the loss on the mound.

Game two was a scheduled seven-inning affair with Rollins needing to drive seven hours to get home. West Florida took command early, scoring three runs in the second, and a fourth in the third inning. Rollins stayed in the game though, clawing their way back in to the game. Whitehead led off the fifth with a single, and was brought in when
Ryan Coleman launched a two-run bomb to center to make it 4-2.
In the sixth inning,
Joey Rubin singled to lead off, and then moved to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Whitehead delivered again, punching a single to right that brought in Rubin. The Tars had two men in scoring position with two outs, but could not bring across the tying run. However, they did not pass up on their chance int he seventh. Jimmy Theis walked on four pitches, and moved to second on a
Jorge Ramirez pinch-hit single. Rubin then found a gap in right-center, bringing home Theis to tie the game.
The momentum was short-lived however as West Florida plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to take the game 5-4.
Whitehead delivered three hits, a run and an RBI in the game to lead the offense.
The Tars will play hots to #20 Quincy University on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week, First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
