ST. PETERSBURG Fla. (Oct. 7, 2023) – The Rollins sailing team enjoyed a successful Saturday at the Eckerd Trophy regatta, with the A Division boat winning two of its three races to help the Tars finish sixth out of 14 teams.

The Blue and Gold finished the day with 35 points, just one behind fourth-place Florida Tech. Jacksonville took home the win with 14 points, followed by Eckerd (20 points) and Jacksonville's second entry, the Fins team (22 points).
The Tars scored five points in the A Division, the best score of all 14 boats in that division. Rollins placed third in race 1A and crossed the line first in races 2A and 3A. Rollins scored 30 points in the B Division, earning 11th, 10th, ninth in the three races.
Due to thunderstorms in the area and unstable wins, the event was called off after three races in each division. Three races were attempted, but abandoned, due to the instability of the winds.
