Tars Net Five Goals in Blowout Win

Rollins defeated Spring Hill 5-1 on Sunday

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. (September 4, 2022) - The Rollins Tars dominated both sides of the pitch on Sunday afternoon, taking home a road regional win over the Spring Hill Badgers, 5-1. With the win, Rollins moves to 3-0-1 on the year, while Spring Hill falls to 1-2-0.

Both teams came out of the gates a little too aggressively, as a total of seven fouls were called in the first seven minutes of the game. When things calmed down, Rollins took control on both offense and defense. They were the first on the board in the 29th minute when Georgios Koliniatis scored his first goal of the year. On defense, the Tars allowed only one total shot which happened in the 43rd minute and was off-target. They led 1-0 at the half.

They added to the lead almost immediately in the second half when Tyler Nagy fed Pedro Lameiras for the freshman's first career collegiate goal. Only six minutes later, Rian Barrett was able to take advantage of a Badger turnover and scored an unassisted goal to make it 3-0.

Fast forward to the 73rd minute when a driving Jari Polm was taken down in the box for a penalty chance. The German delivered with ease past a diving Spring Hill keeper to give the Tars their fourth goal of the match. Cole Cecconi then finished off the day with an unassisted effort in the 80th minute to make the score 5-0. Spring Hill managed to avoid the shutout by scoring a goal with only seven seconds remaining.

For Cecconi, it was his second goal of the season, while the other four found the net for the first time in 2022. The Tars have no scored ten goals in four games, the second-highest average in the Sunshine State Conference. The only team to score more than them is Saint Leo, who will host the Tars in their next game on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00.
