TAMPA, Fla. (May 12, 2022) – The sixth seeded Tars dropped their first contest in the 2022 NCAA South Regional, falling to third seeded Valdosta State by a score of 1-0.  Rollins moves to the elimination bracket with a record of 31-11.  The Blazers advance in the winner's bracket, and will enter a showdown with the hosts, Tampa, carrying a 35-11 mark.
 
Rollins managed a trio of hits over seven innings, with 
Grace Germer, 
Raiven Bryant, and 
Jaden Walker each knocking a single.  Germer and Walker both managed to swipe a bag on the base paths.  
Ashley Worrell pitched well for Rollins, surrendering just one run, on five hits, over six innings of work.
 
Baylee Everson tallied a pair of hits for the Blazers.  Taylor Macera tallied a 1-3 afternoon, and tallied the game's only RBI.  Ally Clegg went 1-2 and scored the run for the Blazers.  Samantha Richards highlighted to contest, tossing a complete game, while allowing three scattered hits, and striking out six.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
	- The Tars biggest threat came in the first frame, when Grace Germer and Raiven Bryant led off the game with back to back singles.
 
	- Rollins would load the bases with two outs, but failed to push a runner across the plate.
 
Third inning
	- An error, a hit by pitch, and a walk allowed the Tars to load the bases with two outs, but again Rollins could not convert the chance into runs.
 
	- The Blazers would threaten in the bottom half of the inning.  Valdosta State opened with a pair of singles before Rollins would record three straight outs to keep the tally 0-0.
 
Fourth Inning
	- Clegg led off the frame with a single through the left side.
 
	- Clegg advanced around the bases with a walk and a sacrifice.
 
	- Macera singled up the middle, scoring Clegg, but a play at the plate limited the Balzers to a 1-0 lead.
 
Seventh Inning
	- Rollins could not manage a baserunner in their final at bat.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars fall to the Elimination Bracket where they face off against Embry-Riddle, tomorrow, Friday, May 13.  First pitch against the Eagles is set for 3 p.m.
