No. 16 Rollins Downed by Second-Ranked NSU

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 9, 2022) – The 16th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team fell by a score of 7-0 to No. 2 Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon. The loss lowers the Tars' record to 10-8, 3-5 in SSC play, while the Sharks go to 17-2 overall, 8-1 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
  • NSU clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court one for third-ranked Natalie Espinal and Chantal Nosievici over 12th-ranked Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth.
  • The Sharks also won on courts two and three to sweep the doubles matches.
Singles
  • Nova Southeastern grabbed straight-sets wins on courts two, five, and three to clinch the match.
  • Natalia Collado Cordon put up a good fight against 30th-ranked Nika Kozar on court six, taking the first set 6-3 before dropping the next two, 6-1, 6-4.
  • 32nd-ranked Groth also battled hard on court one, pushing sixth-ranked Julie Razafindranaly to a 10-point tiebreak, but ultimately came up short, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.

The Tars will travel to Saint Leo next Tuesday, April 12, for the regular season finale against No. 3 Saint Leo at 3 p.m.
