MELBOURNE, Fla. (April 22, 2022) – The Tars used dominant pitching and a big offensive inning to open their series against Florida Tech with a, 5-0, victory. Rollins, who continues to receive votes in national polls, improve to 27-6 overall, and 18-4 in Sunshine State Conference action. The Panthers fall to 31-19, and 14-14 against SSC opposition.

Raiven Bryant went 3-4 with a run and an RBI as she remains hot at the plate.Â
Chelsea Peace tallied a pair of hits, including a homerun, earning three RBI and scoring a run.Â
Grace Germer had a perfect 2-2 afternoon, and scored for Rollins.Â
Ashley Worrell tossed a complete game gem.  The senior gave up just three hits, while striking out four, to improve to 14-3 on the year.

A trio of Panthers each recorded one hit. Mikayla Wessel added a stolen base to her 1-3 outing. Samantha Guider started and threw five innings, giving up five runs, four earned, and picking up the loss. She was relieved by Kelsie Rivers, who gave up one hit in two innings of relief work.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Fourth Inning
- Both teams put their leadoff runners on, and advanced a baserunner to third. But neither team could break in front, as the defenses locked down to keep the game scoreless.
Fifth Inning
- Grace Germer started the Tars' big inning with a bunt single. The outfielder would then round the bases with a steal, a Panther error, and a wild pitch to score the game's first run.
- The Tars would get two more runners on before Raiven Bryant would lay down a bunt single that sent Taylor Waters across the plate, to make the score 2-0.
- Chelsea Peace capped the inning with a three run homerun that sailed over the right field wall, scoring Lexi Moore and Bryant.
Seventh Inning
- The Panthers managed a pair of baserunners in the seventh, but Worrell struck out Mikayla Lewin to end the game, and give Rollins the win.

Rollins and Florida Tech will complete their three game set with doubleheader action tomorrow, Saturday, April 23, in Melbourne. Â First pitch of game one is set for 12 p.m.
