WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match on Wednesday, defeating Texas – Tyler by a score of 4-2. The win moves the Tars to 6-4 on the year, while the Patriots drop to 4-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- After the Patriots got a win on court two, Erin Yaroshuk and Eve Wasil tied it up with a hard-fought 7-6 (5) win over Chloe Dix and Gaini Ibrasheva on court three.
- The 19th-ranked tandem of Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth came through with a tight 7-6 (2) win over Delara Zamani and Leony Deutschmann on court one to clinch the doubles point.
Singles
- Groth had a 2-0 lead over Zamani in set one when Zamani defaulted due to injury, giving the Tars a 2-0 lead.
- After Texas – Tyler got a point with a win on court two, Natalia Collado Cordon came back from being down a set to defeat Chloe Chawner on court six, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, putting the Tars up 3-1.
- The Patriots stayed alive with a win on court five, but Polina Vlasova was able to clinch the match with a win by default on court four. She was two games away from victory, leading 6-7 (9), 6-0, 4-1, when Brooklyn Ross defaulted due to injury.
- Kaitlynn Groves' match against Kanika Sivaraman went unfinished, though she was only one game away from a potential win, leading 6-2, 7-5, 5-3 when the match was called.
