Tars Run Win Streak to Eight with 6-1 Defeat of No. 32 West Virginia State

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 22, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team won its eighth consecutive match on Tuesday, downing No. 32 West Virginia State, 6-1. The Tars won the doubles point and quickly captured the first three singles matches to clinch the match. The victory improves the Tars' record to 8-4, while WVSU drops to 3-3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles Singles
  • McKay quickly dispatched of Rolland on court five, 6-0, 6-2, while Natalia Collado Cordon made it 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Moore on court six.
  • Polina Vlasova clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Haidari on court four.
  • Groves added another point at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Malo.
  • Groth took down Solomon on court one, 6-2, 7-6 (3) to make it 6-0.
  • Borg came up short in a hard-fought match on court two against Wallin, falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-0.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will wrap up this 10-match homestand on Saturday, March 26, when they host No. 17 Tampa at 1 p.m. That match will also serve as Senior Day, where Alexandra Borg will be honored prior to the match.
