Sharks Take Down Tars

Nova Southeastern defeated Rollins 3-0 on Wednesday evening

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 5, 2022) - After waiting two weeks between games, the Rollins Tars failed to shake the rust off on Wednesday evening, dropping a road game to the Nova Southeastern Sharks 3-0. The loss drops Rollins to 5-3-2 (2-2 SSC) on the year, while Nova Southeastern improves to 6-1-2 (4-1-1 SSC).

Rollins unfortunately spotted Nova Southeastern early on when a ball ricocheted off a Tars defender and went into their own net to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Nova then added to the lead seven minutes later with a strike from Dani Correa, who scored off a feed from Louise Matsgard. The Tars were held scoreless in the first half, but it wasn't from a lack of trying; Rollins had eight shots, including five on goal, all of which were saved by Sharks keeper Stefane Rosa.

With a two goal advantage, Nova Southeastern was able to play for possession in the second half, controlling the pace of the game. They limited Rollins to only four shot attempts in the final frame, with an additional three saves being credited to Rosa. In the 83rd minute, Correa added a second goal to put the final touch on the Sharks' win.

It was a relatively clean game on both ends, with only one yellow card being issued and the Tars committing only five fouls. Meghan Mosley and Lexie Cooper each had two shots on goal to lead the Tars offense.

Next up for Rollins is a road game, one week from today at Florida Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm on October 12.
