WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 8, 2022) – A big second quarter from Nova Southeastern proved too much for Rollins to overcome, as the Tars fell to the Sharks, 79-55, on the court inside Warden Arena. With the defeat the Tars fall to 4-8 overall, and 1-6 in Sunshine State Conference action. The Sharks improve to 9-6, and 4-4 in SSC play.

Silvia Lasarte Garcia led Rollins with 14 points, going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.Â
Lucy Leen poured in 12 points on 4-9 shooting from behind the arc.Â
Maria Atanassov-Tomas pulled in a team high seven rebounds off the bench, while
Yoke Tassent and
Caroline Swartz each tallied three assists.

The Sharks were led by a pair of 20 point scorers, Madeline Hardy with 21 and McKenah Peters with 20. Grace Gilmore tallied 13 off the bench. Hardy also added team highs with nine rebounds and four assists. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- The Sharks tallied first, but a three pointer by Lucy Leen and a jump shot from Silvia Lasarte Garcia each gave Rollins early one score leads.
- Nova Southeastern would grow their lead to five over the course of the quarter.
- Kymora Westfield hit a jump shot to make it a one possession game, but the Sharks tallied a buzzer beating layup to reclaim their five point advantage.
Second Quarter
- The Sharks pulled away with a 20-3 run over the first five minutes of the quarter, taking a 37-16 lead at the halfway point.
- A late three from Grace Alfieri made it a 17 point game, but an old fashioned three point play for the Sharks made the score 45-25 at the break
Third Quarter
- Rollins regained their defensive footing in the second half as they sliced into the sharks lead. A three pointer from Yoke Tassent at the 4:18 mark capped a 13-0 run for Rollins, and made it an 11 point game, at 49-38.
- The Sharks responded with a late burst of their own, including a buzzer beating three-pointer, to open the lead back up to 21.
Fourth Quarter
- The two teams would trade baskets for the majority of the fourth period.
- A three pointer from Erin Leigh cut the lead to 15 with four minutes to play, but that was as close as the Tars good get in the final frame.
- The Sharks ended on a 9-0 run, making the final 79-55.
