WINTER PARK, FLA. (May 7, 2021) - The Rollins softball team clinched their Sunshine State Conference Championship after defeating the Florida Southern Mocs 7-4 and 6-3 in doubleheader action. Rollins improves to 19-2 overall and 16-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. Florida Southern falls to 7-17, and 6-14 in conference action.

Game 1: Rollins 7, Florida Southern 4
Chelsea Peace led Rollins, tallying a multi hit game, and a home run for the Tars. The third baseman tallied three RBI in the contest.Â
Ashley Troutman went 1-3, with two RBI and a run scored.Â
Ali Shenefield improved to 9-0 overall, tossing a complete game with four strikeouts.

During the top of the second Florida Southern was able to score the first two runs of the game, from a Sky Ralstin homerun. Rollins did not let the deficit get them down.Â
Cynthia Whitty hit a single to start the bottom of the frame.
Raiven Bryant sacrificed Whitty to third before
Taylor Waters doubled to center field allowing Whitty to score the first Rollins run of the game.
Lexi Moore launched a double to center field pushing Waters across home plate to even the score at 2-2.

Chelsea Peace hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the third inning giving Rollins the lead, at 3-2. Then, Rollins scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Ashley Troutman doubled to center field for two RBI, scoring Waters and
Brycyn Smith. Â Peace then tallied a two RBI single to left field scoring Troutman and Moore to give Rollins a 7-2 advantage.

Florida Southern picked up two runs in the top of the seventh inning but that did not help them as the Tars came out on top.

Game 2: Rollins 6, Florida Southern 2
Chelsea Peace led the Tars offensive effort again, going 2-3, with two runs, and a pair of RBI.Â
Ashley Troutman went 1-3 with a run and a pair of RBI.Â
Ashley Worrell registered a complete game, surrendering two runs, only one earned, and six strikeouts.

The Tars got the bats hot during the bottom of the third inning. Troutman hit her first homerun of the season, with

On her birthday,
Raiven Bryant blew out candles with a solo homerun in the fourth inning, to give the Tars a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the frame.

The Tars scored their final runs during the bottom of the fifth inning.
Chelsea Peace hit a two run homerun pushing
Reagan Raley across home plate, putting Rollins up 6-0.

The Mocs tried to make a comeback against Rollins by scoring the final two runs in the game but it just wasn't enough, as the Tars took the series with a 6-2 victory.
