Tars Upset No. 6 Florida Tech

The Tars earned their first victory of the spring, defeating No. 6 Florida Tech, 2-1

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 19, 2021) – The Tars earned their first victory of the spring, defeating No. 6 Florida Tech, 2-1, in a hotly contested match, on the turf at Barker Family Stadium.  Rollins improves to 1-1-0 on the year, while the Panthers fall to 1-1-1 overall.

Nazar Tsaruk scored his second goal of the year for the Tars, he was assisted by Elias Azzouz.  Abdiel Martinez saw all 90 minutes in net for Rollins, making three stops.

The Tars were the aggressors for most of the first half, and eventually the work paid off with a break through in the 26th minute.  Azzouz was released down the sideline and delivered a perfectly placed cross.  Tsaruk got on the end of it, and headed the ball home, giving Rollins the advantage.  The Panthers would equalize from the penalty spot just five minutes later,  Guillermo Segovia knotting the score at 1-1.  The Rollins pressure would not relent, however, resulting in a second goal late in the period.  Rollins sent a ball into the box and a Florida Tech attempt at a clearance directed the ball into the net for the eventual game winner.  The second half was evenly fought, with neither team able to create any clear chances. Rollins saw the game out late for the victory.
