WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2020) - For the third consecutive match, the Rollins women's tennis team shutout their opponent, this time defeating the Ferris State Bulldogs 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
All three doubles matches went to the Tars. Alexandra Borg and Ola Durzynski won their sixth doubles match of the year, defeating Isabela Paixao and Agata Klak 6-3. Georgina Groth and Katie Groves then locked up the point with a 6-4 win over Morgan Waller and Sam Stephenson for their fifth of the year. In flight three, Marie Debruyn and Polina Vlasova tied Borg and Durzynski by winning their sixth match of the year, 6-2, against Patricia Gomez and Brittany Lavenant.
The Tars then swept all six singles matches:
- Durzynski was dominant in flight one, taking the match 6-3, 6-3 against Paixao. The win moves the Poland native to 3-0 in flight one matches on the season.
- Borg faced stiff competition in flight two in the form of Agata Klak. Borg took set one, 7-5, and then Klak took the second set 6-1. In the thrid and final set, Borg outlasted Klak 10-6 for the win, her fourth of the year.
- Groves breezed through flight three, defeating Waller 6-3, 6-2 for her sixth win of the season.
- Freshman Georgina Groth managed her team-high seventh singles win of the year by defeating Lavenant 6-1, 6-2 in flight four.
- Debruyn made short work of Gomez with a 6-3, 6-4 win. It was the sixth time this year that the senior took a singles match.
- Vlasova continued her dominant freshman campaign with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Sam Stephenson. She matches Groves and Debruyn with six individual wins on the season.
After a couple of days off, the Tars will be back in action on Friday at home against Auburn Montgomery. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
