Tars Grab Ninth After Day One of Matlock Collegiate

LAKELAND, Fla. (February 11, 2020) – The annual spring kick off for the top teams in Division II, Rollins grabbed ninth place after two rounds of the Matlock Collegiate Classic. 

The Tars are among 15 schools at the Florida Southern-hosted event at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland. 

Rollins turned in scores of 299-305 and are 28-over for the tournament. Columbus State leads the way at two-over, host FSC is second and 10 over and Florida Tech third at 11-over. 

Trystan Perkins leads the way for the Tars, sitting tied for 19th at five-over. The senior was two-under in the first round, hanging  70. He then came back in harsher conditions to card a 79 in the afternoon round. 

Nicholas Diebel is tied for 25th, a shot behind Perkins. The sophomore turned in solid rounds of 77-73 on the day. 

Will Hall (74-80) is tied for 50th and Danny Taggart (80-75) tied for 55th. Nicholas Bessire is tied for 61st at 12-over (78-78). 

Rollins will close the Matlock Invite with a final 18 holes on Tuesday, February 11.
