GULF SHORES, Ala. (February 1, 2020) – After having the first two games of the season washed out Friday, Rollins finally got its 2020 season underway with wins over Spring Hill and Delta State.
The Tars beat the Badgers 9-0 (5 innings) in the morning and then came back to take down Delta State 1-0 in an evening thriller.

Ashley Worrell had a great day on in the circle, throwing five shutout innings in a winning effort. She only put one hit (in the fifth inning) and totaled two strikeouts to just one walk on the day.

RECAP: Rollins 1, Delta St. 0
Rollins finished day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational on top, beating Delta State 1-0.
Ali Shenefield was spectacular for the Tars against the Lady Statesmen, allowing just two hits and fanning 15. She was just two off the school record for strikeouts in a seven-inning game, held by Kirsten Frame and Nicole Anderson.
In a game that runs were hard to come by, Peace led off the fourth with a single and scored after a Talia Kentoffio sacrifice fly to left field, which proved to be the game's lone run. Kentoffio was a perfect 1-1 at the plate while Troutman and Worrell both went 1-4. Gehring and Waters also had base knocks for the Tars.
Delta State's Hailey Simpson went 2-3 and was the only Delta State player to have a hit against the Tars.
The Tars are back at it on Sunday to close the Gulf Shores Invitational, facing Drury and West Ala.
