MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (January 4, 2020) – Rollins went on the road Saturday and picked up a big Sunshine State Conference win over Barry, beating the Bucs 69-54.
Jaylyn Harrison filled the stat sheet with 13 points, eight assists and five rebounds to lead Rollins (9-4, 2-3 SSC). Paris Sharpe added 12 points and four rebounds while Denise Daniels hauled in a game-high 11 boards.
SSC leading scorer Emma Hergot led Barry (3-9, 1-4 SSC) with 19 points to go along with eight rebounds. Johanna Kampp netted 10.
The Tars held Barry to just 1-of-16 shooting from long range and 38 percent for the game. Rollins connected on 42 percent and outrebounded Barry 45-25.
The teams played even the first quarter, sitting tied 14-14 after 10 minutes of action.
Rollins trailed 20-17 with 6:24 left in the first half. Harrison hit from deep and sparked an 11-2 run to put the Tars on top 28-22 just two minutes later. Barry cut the lead to two before Rollins built it back up and a late Rachel Jablonski three-pointer put the Tars on top 34-28 at intermission.
The Tars stayed hot coming out of the locker room and led 42-32 five minutes into the third. Barry got as close as six, but Rollins outscored its host by six the rest of the quarter and led 52-40 heading into the fourth.
Jablonski sunk a pair of free throws and Rachel Lia hit a jumper midway through the fourth to give Rollins a 64-48 lead. The Bucs would get no closer than 12 the rest of the way.
