MELBOURNE, Fla. (May 11, 2019) – The Tars 2019 season ended with a 4-2 loss at Florida Tech on Saturday.
Rollins closed its campaign with a record of 25-24, 12-18 in Sunshine State Conference play while FIT went 29-18, 17-11 SSC.
The Tars had the tying runs in scoring position in the ninth, but couldn't push either across.
Luke Reidy went 3-5 with two RBIs to highlight the Tars bats. Isaiah Russell batted 2-4 on the day. Cameron Montgomery and Brendan Brundage also had a hits. Starter Jimmy Robbins pitched five innings while striking out four and allowing four runs. Garrett Leonard struck out three in three scoreless innings of relief.
Raul Quintero went 2-3 with three RBIs and one double for Tech. Brett Parrish went 1-2 with an RBI and Rodnie Bernard hit 2-3. Justin Lorenz picked up the win in three innings of relief while Ryan Allain earned the save.
The Panthers jumped ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on two hits. They added another run in the third to make it a 4-0 game.
Russell led off the Tars fifth with a double and scored on a Reidy single later in the frame. In the seventh, Cameron Meehan drew a one-out walk, reached second on a throwing error and scored off a Reidy single up the middle.
Down 4-2 to start the ninth, Russell led off with a single and got to second on another Tech throwing error. Meehan again walked and both advanced on a Jack Gonzalez lineout. Reidy then struck out looking to end the game and season. ,
