WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2019) – The Tars downed Florida National in convincing fashion, besting the Conquistadors 7-0, on the Tiedtke Tennis Courts. The Tars jump above the .500 mark overall, at 6-5. Florida National falls 1-8, and has now lost seven in a row.
Ola Durzynski and Kaitlynn Groves started the sweep for Rollins with a 6-0 shutout win in the second doubles position. Savanna Fuller and Carlye Goldman sealed the doubles point for Rollins with another 6-0 win, on the third court. Alexandra Borg and Teresa Kaiser improved to 5-2 on the year, and kept the Tars perfect in doubles action, with a 6-1 top position victory.
The Tars continued to control the match entering singles action. Marie Debruyn continued her stellar play in 2019, taking a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the sixth spot. Groves tallied the Tars third points with her second win of the day. The freshman also shutoput her opponent, taking the fourth position match 6-0, 6-0. Kaiser clinched the win for Rollins, making the score 4-0, with a 6-1, 6-0 fifth court win. Savanna Fuller cruised to 6-1, 6-1 win in the third spot. Durzynski made easy work of her second court opponent, taking her contest 6-2, 6-3. Borg clinched the shutout victory for Rollins, taking a first set tiebreak, on her way to a 7-6(5), 7-5 win.
The Tars will return to Sunshine State Conference play by hosting Embry-Riddle on Tuesday, March 26. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
