WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 16, 2019) – Rollins capped off its three-game series at Palm Beach Atlantic with an extra innings win, splitting games Saturday afternoon.
The Tars (14-6, 2-4 SSC) dropped the opener 8-6 but rebounded with an 11-inning, 5-4 win in game two. PBA (12-12, 3-6 SSC) won 4-2 on Friday to earn the series win.
Game 1:
After trailing 7-0 in the fourth, Rollins mounted a comeback and was down 8-6 in the eighth with the bases loaded. The big hit didn't come and the Tars took the loss.
Isaiah Russell led the Tars, batting 2-4 with two RBIs and one run. Jack Gonzalez went 2-4 at the plate with a RBI while Cameron Meehan knocked in three.
Jimmy Robbins (2-2) took the loss pitching in five innings and allowing six runs on five hits. Ross Korosec and Kyle Kramer also saw action in the game.
Rollins started its rally in the fifth, putting three runs across.. Isaiah Russell doubled down the leftfield line to plate Jarred Herron and Sam Lafontaine. Meehan followed with a two RBI double of his own, scoring Isaiah Russell and Sam Lafontaine.
Luke Reidy was plunked to lead off the Tars eighth and was followed by a Kyle Hintz walk and Herron single to load the bases. Russell ripped a single to left, scoring Reidy, and Hintz later scored on an error by the PBA second baseman. Gonzalez singled up the middle and made it an 8-6 count by scoring Herron. The Tars left the bases loaded in the big inning.
PBA then closed the door, putting Rollins down in order in the ninth.
Heath Hawkins picked up win for PBA, throwing 2.2 innings in relief. Brandon Smith went 3-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the 'Fish offense. N 1
Game 2:
Rollins loaded the bases in the top of the 11th and Brendan Brundage provided the eventual game winning RBI, scoring Hintz and lifting the Tars win victory.
Eddie Ayala went 2-3 at the plate, while Gonzalez, Reidy and Meehan also had two hits. Brundage and Cameron Montgomery both had two RBIs.
Whit Drennan took his first win of the season, pitching six innings with six strikeouts and allowing two runs, on earned. Garrett Leonard was the starting pitcher of the day , scattering seven hits and two runs in five innings.
In the second, Reidy scored on a Herron sac fly to put the Tars up 1-0. PBA tied the score in the bottom half and went up 2-1 with a score in the fifth.
In the seventh inning Cameron Montgomery singled and advanced to second allowing Brundage and Meehan to score. Getting the Tars a 4-2 lead over the Sailfish.
PBA forced extras with a two-out run in the bottom of the ninth.
Hintz drew a led off walk in the 11th and LaFontaine reached on an error. Herron sacraficed both over a base and Hintz scored on the Brundage ground out to second.
PBA put two on in the bottom of the 11th but Drennan was able to perserve the Tars win.
Connor Rowland went 4-6 at the plate with one run and Brandon Seltzer 2-6, with two runs and two RBIs to lead PBA.
Justin Hernandez took the loss, allowing the Tars winning run in the 11th.

The Tars will be back home March 22 hosting Eckerd at Alfond Stadium at 6 p.m. to start a three-game series.
