VALDOSTA, Ga. (February 16, 2019) – Rollins took to the road for their second contest of 2019, shutting out the Valdosta State Blazers 5-0. The No. 20 Tars sit at 2-0 in the young season, while Valdosta State falls to 0-4 on the year, with each loss coming against top-25 competition.
Rollins earned the doubles point with a trio of dominating performances. Savanna Fuller and Carlye Goldman got the Tars in front with a 6-0 win on the second court. Kaitlynn Groves and Marie Debruyn took the third position match 6-2, clinching the point for Rollins. Alexandra Borg and Teresa Kaiser completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in the first spot.
Debruyn picked up her second win of the afternoon to start singles play. The junior sailed to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the sixth position. Borg tallied a first court win in similarly dominating fashion, winning 6-0, 6-2. Ola Durzynski clinched the overall win for Rollins, giving the Tars a 4-0 lead, with a 6-4, 6-4 fourth position win. Fuller rounded out the match with a 6-1, 6-3 second spot win. Groves and Teresa Kaiser had unfinished matches on the third and fifth courts
Rollins will return home to face Bates on Wednesday, February 20, with first serve set for 4 p.m.
