WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 30, 2019) – A short-handed Tars team dropped their first Sunshine State Conference match of the season, falling to Barry 2-0 at Barker Family Stadium. With the loss the No. 9 Tars fall to 11-3-0 overall, and 8-1-0 in SSC action. The Bucs improve to 7-6-0 overall, and 6-2-0 in conference play.
Sarah Buckley fired six shots, and forced Barry's keeper into one save. Bailey Tran took a pair of shots, putting them both on target, as the Rollins offence was held off the scoreboard for the first time this season.
Minda Forsblom and Lauren Hall each tallied scores for the Bucs. Emma Lilback and Bell Fitzhenry recorded assists on the Buccaneer goals.
Elena Beasley made four saves, playing the full 90 minutes in net for Rollins. Maddie Hart-Pomerantz made five saves, holding the shutout for Barry.
The Tars controlled the early part of the first half, firing off 10 shots in the period, while earning four corner kicks. However, the Bucs would get on the board late, with Forsblom putting a shot from distance off the inside of the bar and into the back of the net.
The second half was also played evenly, with both teams getting chances on goal. Barry would double the lead in the 64th minute. Lilback sent a cross into the box; Beasley got her gloves to it, but it fell Hall who kicked the ball into the open net. Rollins upped the pressure over the final portion of the match, but could not cut into the Buc lead.
