Rollins and No. 24 PBA Battle to Draw

WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 12, 2019) – The Tars battled for 110 minutes, earning a 1-1 draw against No. 24 Palm Beach Atlantic.  Rollins moves to 2-5-2 on the year and 1-2-2 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The Sailfish finish the night at 7-1-2 overall, and 2-1-2 in SSC action.

Christian Adams got the lone Rollins goal, tallying off an assist from William Centeno.

Charlie Lewis tallied the only goal for the Sailfish.

Maximillian Obermeier made 10 saves on the night, helping the Tars earn the point.  Elliot Barker played the majority of the contest for Palm Beach Atlantic, making three saves.  Patrick Nettekoven made an appearance in the final two minutes.

The game opened with both teams enjoying spells of possession.  It was the Tars that struck first with an efficient counter attack.  Centeno sent a perfectly weighted pass through the heart of the Sailfish defense where Adams ran onto it.  He deftly stepped around a charging Barker and sent the ball into the back of the net.  Rollins would see out the half with a 1-0 lead.

The Sailfish would step up the intensity in the second 45 minutes.  Obermeier made seven second half saves, preserving the Tars lead until the final minute.  With just one minute remaining on the clock, Lewis gathered the ball after it popped out of a scrum in front of cage, and redirected it into the net.

Niether team could find the decisive goal in the overtime period.  Rollins had the best chance, but the Tars sent a penalty kick wide of bar, as the game ended locked at 1-1.

Notes:

  • The assist was William Centeno's first point in the Blue and Gold.
  • Maximillian Obermeier's 10 saves are a new career high for the freshman.
  • Christian Adams moves into a tie with Dominic Adomakoh, Georgios Koliniatis, and Michael Landau for the team lead with two goals a piece.
