Late Goals Spoil Tars' Upset Bid

MIAMI SHORES, Fla (September 22, 2018) – Rollins just missed an upset bid, eventually falling, 2-1, in overtime, to the No. 6 Barry Bucs.  The loss was the Tars' first of the year, as they move to 3-1-3 overall, and 1-1-0 in Sunshine State Conference play.  Barry remains unbeaten at 7-0-0, and 2-0-0 in SSC action.

Chynna McGirt found the back of the net for Rollins, she was assisted by Kathryn O'Brien.  Kelly Rowswell made six stops for Rollins, seeing all of the action in goal for the Tars.  Christy Grimshaw earned both Barry goals, while Molly Sharpe and Ari Cerezuela tallied helpers for the Bucs.  Melanie Ziegner played the full 91 minutes for Barry, making three saves.

O'Brien found McGirt in the 12th minute of the game.  The sophomore took a shot from just inside the 18-yard box, which curled inside the far post.  After holding the No. 6 Bucs at bay for most of the contest Barry equalized in the 86th minute, with Grimshaw's first of the night.  The senior then sealed the Tarts fate just a minute into overtime when she drove a low shot into the back of the net.

Rollins will look to rebound on Wednesday, September 26, when they travel back to South Florida to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights.  The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
