WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 14) – Rollins controlled the game from the outset, cruising to a 5-0 win over Trinity Baptist College. With the victory Rollins finished the non-conference portion of their 2018 campaign with a perfect 6-0-0 record. The Eagles fall to 0-7-1 on the year.
The Tars got a pair of goals from leading scorer Stefan Avram, and a tally by George New in the first half. Tyler Nagy and Christian Adams each found the net for their first Rollins goals in the second to round out the Tars scoring. Dominic Adomakoh, Cyrus Siminou, Dominik Hayden, and Ray Gerke all earned assists on the Tars goals. TJ Brubaker and Eidur Ivarsson split time in net for Rollins, with Brubaker making one save. The Eagles managed only two shots in the contest, while Triinity Baptist goalkeeper Angelo Fernandez made 10 saves.
Rollins got on the board in the seventh minute when a Adomakoh through ball found a streaking Avram who cooly placed the ball past the keeper. Avram completed his third brace of the year by finishing another well played lead ball from Siminou in the 16th minute. George New converted a wonderfully tanked free kick, sending the ball into the top corner from 30 yards out to give the Tars a 3-0 halftime lead. Tyler Nagy played a short corner to Hayden, then got the ball back and rocketed a shot from a severe angle inside the post for his first score in the Blue and Gold. Christian Adams tallied his first Rollins goal in the 76th minute, letting a Ray Gerke pass run across his feet before sending a shot across goal by the outstretched arms of Fernandez, and into the side netting. The Tars dominated possession and easily saw out the final 15 minutes, staying undefeated.
Rollins will travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern to open Sunshine State Conference action next Wednesday, September 19. Kickoff against the Mocs is set for 7 p.m.
