WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 1, 2018) – Rollins picked up their second win of the weekend to remain perfect in early season action. The Tars bested the Regis Rangers 2-1 at Barker Family Stadium, Saturday night. Rollins is now 2-0-0 in 2018, while Regis falls to 0-2-0 on the campaign.
Damian Clarke netted his first goal of the year, while Stefan Avram tallied his third to account for the Tars' scoring. Andre Nansen, Ray Gerke, and George New all earned assists in the match up. Abdiel Martinez made two saves in his second career start. Ranger's captain Joe Mansfield earned their one score, he was assisted by Kristian Hooker and Ethan Willson. Chase Webert also made two stops in net.
The Tars got on the board with ten minutes remaining in the first half. A long ball over the top found Nansen running down the side. He was able to slide the ball to the feet of Clarke in the box; the senior then took a touch and placed the ball in the back of the net. After the Rangers equalized from a set piece, the Tars regained the lead courtesy of a great give and go by New and Gerke. Gerke then drove the ball into the box where Avram was able to redirect it into the net. The Tars confidently saw out the final half hour, securing the victory.
The Tars will now take to the road for the first time in 2018, when they travel to West Florida on Friday, September 7. Kickoff against the Argos is set for 7 p.m.
