No 6 Rollins – 0
No. 3 Lynn – 5
BRADENTON, Fla. (April 19, 2018) – The third-seeded, and No. 5, Lynn Fighting Knights proved too much for Rollins in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. Rollins exits the tournament with an overall record of 8-13, while the Fighting Knight, who improve to 14-5, continue on to the semifinals to face second-seeded and No. 2 Barry.
The Tars struggled in doubles play, digging themselves an early hole against the Fighting Knights. Lynn took the first and third doubles positions to open the match. Rollins held a lead in the second spot, but could not hold on, falling 8-6, allowing the Fighting Knights the sweep.
Lynn would clinch the overall win with the first two singles decisions. Rollins dropped the fourth and sixth court matches. The rest of the Tars were still battling when the contest was called, including Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz, who had taken the first set of the third position match.
The loss eliminates the Tars from the SSC Tournament, and brings Rollins' 2018 campaign to an end.
